Question: I was going through the databases and was wondering if any database might show industry or firm revenue by square footage? I tried BizMiner but I could only get it to show averages by sales. Any insight you might have into this I would greatly a

Answer given to question: I can't think of one of databases which would create the report you are looking for.
You may have to think outside the box for this one.
Ask yourself "who cares about film revenue by square footage".
Theater owners perhaps?
Producers?
Head to organizations which represent these groups and perhaps they'll have something on their websites.
You may have to send an email or make a phone call.
National Association for Theater Owners (NATO)

Also try trade publications such as Boxoffice.com or The Hollywood Reporter?

Question: Can Alums access databases?

Question (cont'd)It has been awhile since we spoke or even seen each other, oh how time flies! I hope all is well!

The reason I am contacting you today is to see if alumni have any way to access the ONU research database? I am constantly wishing I still had the opportunity to get into the business resources I had when I attended Ohio Northern. If there is not a program set up or a way for me to create an account I understand, worth a shot though.

Thank you very much! I hope I will have the chance to come visit the campus very soon!

Have a great day

Answer given to question: I explained that we were unable at this time to offer off-campus access for our subscription databases to alumni. But when I learned she worked for a company in Lima, I suggested she could come see us or visit the oplin homepage where she could at least get access to Business Source Premier.

OSU-Lima does not have publicly accessible terminals and I could not get through to UNHO to find out if they do.

She emailed back and is coming for a visit soon. I did caution her that GMID has a "terms and condition" statement which prohibits businesses from using the database, but she is most intereted in S&P Netadvantage and BizMiner.

I am looking for information on a woman executive in Johnson and Johnson. I am writing a paper on women in business and needed to pick a woman in a particular company.

Answer given to question: Brian had started her out in the Company Histories series, we found some information in Hoover's and Mergent Online.

Not a ton of information, she had already looked at the company website and felt better knowing there were several business databases to consult.

Traci, do you know anything about this assignment?

See Below

Question: I'm searching
Number of physicians in Kenya (2009 or 2010)
The number of hospitals and healthcare clinic (find one, but not reliable as references)
 Clear water spot in Kenya.
The distribution of electricity in Kenya. % of how it distributes within the country.
Would you be able to suggest me the websites or link to find these information easily?

Answer given to question: I suggested World Data Analysis which should include most of the information required as well as the World Almanac.

I also suggested the UN website which is fairly searchable particularly for the clean water.

Michele Govekar has made it clear to me that she wants the students to find the information and she's not opposed if they struggle a little. She would like the librarians to point them in possible directions.

We are working on a project together and need to create a forecast for the grocery and alcoholic beverages industry.

Answer given to question: This was the capstone business project involving Meijer's, they were looking for Traci - - but got me instead. I enlisted the help of Paul and we got them started on Standard and Poor's, BizMiner and GMID. Paul found them some associations related to the alcoholic beverage industry as that was their individual focus.

How can I find historical stock quotes for the Coca-Cola Company?

Answer given to question: Yahoo Finance is the easiest resource I've found for historical stock prices.
Go to the company's page either by typing in the company name or Ticker symbol. Then on the left hand side, find the link for historical prices and put in the date you are looking for.

The student needed industry reports on hypermarkets such as Wal-mart. He was looking for Traci in particular.

Date: 04/28/10 Time: 8:00pm

Question: The student needed industry reports on hypermarkets such as Wal-mart. He was looking for Traci in particular.

Answer given to question: [I realized that this sounded familiar, and that this was the student that had emailed Traci on the 26th about SWOT information on Wal-Mart. I pulled up her blog entry and was able to use her response to walk him through the next few steps.]

We went to the computers and looked up the databases for BizMiner and S&P NetAdvantage. We went through pulling up industry reports for Wal-Mart and he felt comfortable in looking for different reports on his own. Then we went to Business Source Complete and I showed him some tips for using the database (Full Text, Peer Reviewed) and talked about some of the articles he might look for on there after he had pulled industry reports.
